Domestic and Family Violence

Relationships Australia provides counselling, support and courses to increase safety and reduce violence in families. Our services are available to men, women and children who have experienced violences.

Sometimes in families, there is aggression and tension that can lead to violence which hurts everyone. Family violence has long-term implications, especially for children. Children who grow up in families, where there is violence or abuse, are more likely to perform poorly at school, have low self esteem and have mental health issues as adults.

With commitment and support, families who experience violence can learn new ways to manage their problems and relate to each other.

Our programs aim to promote non-violent, respectful and caring relationships and include:

  • Individual, couple and family counselling
  • Specialised programs for aggressors who want to change their behaviour
  • Support groups for women who have experienced violence in their relationships
  • Assistance for children who experience violence

Support is available as face to face counselling in a variety of locations, telephone counselling or online counselling. We do not offer emergency counselling services.  We also offer courses and seminars, which often take place in the evening or on weekends.
