Pacific Islander Casework Support Service
PICSS (Pacific Islander Casework Support Service) is a service for young people from the Pacific Communities who are clients of the Department of Juvenile Justice, Fairfield NSW.
Our aim is to assist you to sort out issues to reduce your chance of re-offending. A Pacific Island Case Support Worker can help you and your family with the following:
- Attending appointments and complying with the direction of the Juvenile Justice Officer
- Linking you and your family to relevant and appropriate services to help you eg; Centrelink, Department of Education, Family Assistance, Health services
- Helping you to build better family relationships
- Advocating on your behalf to other services and providing cultural information to those services
- Helping you to sort out other issues you are worried about
You will be assigned a Pacific Islander worker who is aware of your culture, values and the issues you may be facing.
This service is free. However, a referral is required from a Juvenile Justice Officer.
Waiting times vary according to the current level of demand.
Often our families are referred on to the Adolescent Family Therapy and Mediation Service, another service from Relationships Australia.
