What is online counselling?

Online counselling is counselling offered via the Internet using real-time chat (like MSN).   All counsellors are Relationships Australia staff.  Our system is designed to provide maximum security and confidentiality.  If you live in a rural or remote area, have carer responsibilities or disabilities, live overseas, or simply want the convenience or anonymity of online counselling, this service may be for you.

To use online counselling services you need access to a computer and the Internet, and it helps if you are comfortable with MSN messaging or other chat applications, or if you can type at a reasonable speed.

Online counselling uses “real-time chat” as a medium.  You and your counselor log in to our secure website at the time of your appointment, and type messages to each other using a system similar to MSN.

Who will I "chat" to?

Our online counsellors have qualifications and experience in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling. The majority have also undertaken specialist post-graduate training in working with different types of couples and families. Their qualifications exceed the approval requirements of the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. Professional supervision and on-going training are provided to all counsellors to ensure a high quality of service. Our online counsellors also get special training in online counselling and ongoing supervision.

What will it cost?

There is an $80 flat-rate per one hour session of online counseling.   You need to have a credit card to pay for this service  through our secure payment gateway.
