Arrunga Gibalee Aboriginal Counselling Service
The Arrunga Gibalee Aboriginal Counselling Service provides a service specifically for Aboriginal people. Counselling is an opportunity to talk through whatever is troubling you. A counsellor has had specialised training and is experienced to help you do that. Our service is professional and confidential. Relationships Australia is a community based, not-for-profit organisation with a commitment to providing services to Aboriginal communities.
Our services are available to help you with any family relationship difficulties such as:
- Issues for the Stolen Generations
- Reconnecting with family members
- Grief and loss
- Conflict between family members
- Communication problems

As an organisation committed to supporting Aboriginal people, Relationships Australia has worked with the Mudgin-Gal Aboriginal Women's Centre, Redfern; the Northern Sydney Aboriginal Social Planner and Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women’s Legal Centre, Marrickville.
Arrunga Gibalee is guided by a reference group of local Aboriginal workers and Elders who do not have access to client identity. They advise counsellors how best to respond to local Aboriginal community needs.
We have several counsellors who have experience working with Aboriginal people. Though they are not Aboriginal they have some knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and history, and an awareness of the need to keep up to date with what is happening in Aboriginal communities.
This service is free of charge.
We can also provide confidential telephone counselling and online counselling on request.
To find out more about Arrunga Gibalee please call 02 94188800 and ask for Janet Hurley. Janet has an ongoing commitment to providing appropriate services to Aboriginal people. Leave your name and telephone number and Janet will get back to you as soon as she can.
The Aboriginal Counselling Service is located in Neutral Bay, on the North Shore, Sydney.
